Our company TECHARTSTAV, a long-standing partner for the reconstruction and modernization of important buildings of the Mír Theater, is proud to participate in a unique project that will forever change the cultural map of Ostrava. The former Vítek cinema in Hrabůvka will be transformed into the new Odeon Theater, which will build on the success of the popular Mír Theater and expand its capabilities to include large-scale productions, including musicals.
“We want Hrabůvka to come alive with culture again. It will be a space that can accommodate large projects and attract audiences from all over Ostrava and the surrounding area,” said Albert Čuba, director of the Mír Theater, in an interview with Moravskoslezský deník.
What have we done so far?
Detailed 3D scanning and passportization
Complete surveying of the property as a basis for creating project documentation.
Clearance and dismantling
The interior fittings are being dismantled.
Commencement of project work
We are preparing comprehensive documentation for the overall reconstruction, including all trades and modern technologies. The project will be completed by January 2026.
Technological and functional modernization
The reconstruction will bring fundamental changes:
Room acoustics and lighting
for theater and music productions.
Modern audiovisual technology
with the option of digital control of stage effects.
Energy efficiency
use of energy-saving technologies for lighting, heating, and air conditioning.
Comfort for spectators
New seats, high-quality interior materials, barrier-free access.
Why is this important?
The former Vítek cinema building has been falling into disrepair for a long time. Now it will be transformed into a modern theater stage that will bring new cultural life to Ostrava’s most populous district. The project is part of a broader vision for cultural development in the city and follows on from the success story of the Mír Theater.
